Dreams of the Church—Deeper Fellowship
Submitted by Matthew on Tue, 07/07/2009 - 17:18.In the past editions of the bulletin, we have dealt with the strengths of the Castle Rock church of Christ. We highlighted some beautiful aspects of the congregation. In this edition we are moving ahead to the question of “Where do you want to see the congregation be in the next 5-10 years?” One of the major themes of this question was the desire for “deeper fellowship.”
The expression of “creating more intimate fellowship” was used. Shockingly, fellowship is one of the strongest desires for the congregation to improve. It seems that the fellowship within the congregation is of the “first class” variety, but probably this is the source of this strength. People have the desire to know and be known. The desire to improve causes the congregation to maintain deep bonds with one another.
The ideas of “taking care of each other, accepting people of different backgrounds, more fellowship with one another, and being a redemptive healing community” were given as future dreams. There seems to be a strong core value of being together with one another. People want to continue the tradition of strong relationships in the church.
This is why the congregation must continue to work and strive for opportunities and ministries that promote fellowship, unity, and togetherness in the congregation. Everyone would mostly agree that “worship services do not provide the avenue for deep understandings of one another.” As the congregation moves into the future, we must continue to push for deeper fellowship with each other.
